29th WIND and WATER Warsaw International Boat Show

The WIND and WATER Warsaw Boat Show, which is the largest event of this kind in this part of Europe, took place on 16-19 March 2017. Already for the 29th time, the Boat Show brought together representatives of the industry as well as water sports and recreation enthusiasts from Poland and abroad. Visitors could admire the most beautiful yachts, luxury motorboats, the fastest water scooters, and modern yachting and motorboat equipment in the Trade Fair and Congress Centre in ul. Marsa, Warsaw.

This year, more than 432 exhibitors from Poland and abroad presented their offers at the Boat Show: over a hundred motorboats and sail yachts, including rubber dinghies, RIBs, jet skis and other vessels, as well as sailing accessories, engines, safety and rescue equipment, navigation equipment and yacht electronics. As usual, there were also many premieres and new products prepared by the exhibitors for the coming season. Producers and distributors of sailing and sports clothing presented their offers as well, while Polish and foreign tourist regions were showcasing their proposals for active recreation – both on water and at the waterside. In addition, the Boat Show promoted tourist water trails, charters, sailing waters, marinas, and interesting places for water sports. As usual, for many of our guests the Boat Show was a good moment to make plans for the coming summer holidays. In total, the Boat Show was visited by 27 634 water sports fans from all around Poland.

The partner of this year’s Boat Show was the magazine “Żagle”. The Boat Show was sponsored by Henri Lloyd. The Strategic Partner was the City of Gdynia – Poland’s Sailing Capital.

The company Dobre Jachty presented an attractive offer: Apart from the well-known Jeanneau motorboats, they displayed, for the first time, Invictus vessels. This experienced Italian brand is known for its beautiful and fast motorboats, which can be found in almost every European marina and are distinguished by careful finishing and unique Italian elegance. In addition, Dobre Jachty presented the bestsellers from Jeanneau: motorboats Merry Fisher 695 and Merry Fisher 895
Power Boats Poland, with one of the largest stands at the Boat Show, presented a broad array of motor boats. Other companies that displayed a broad range of vessels were: Astex Łodzie – Regal 26 Express and 2800 Bowrider, and MYC Poland – Chaparral 225 SSi Cuddy, 257 SSX Bowrider and 307 SSX Bowrider.
There were also many new brands of motorboats to see at the Boat Show, including Rio Espera 34 (first time in Poland) at the Sellite Yachts stand or the C 35 model by Sessa Marine.
The Taurus Sea Power stand offered new products from the water sports industry: the latest Sea-Doo personal watercrafts, the unfailing Evinrude E-TEC G2 engines, as well as Four Winns Boats, Glastron Boats and Scarab Boats.

Furthermore, the Boat Show included premieres for fans of sailing in peace and quiet, under actual sails: - Antila 24.4 – a tourist yacht of less than 7.5 m in length, ideal for sailing on lakes, by Jacek Daszkiewicz - TES 246 Versus by Tomasz Siwek. The yacht is less than 7.5 m long, so no licence is required, and it’s width does not exceed 2.55 m, which means that it can be transported on public roads - a treat for active sailors – the centreboardless catamaran TopCat X4, easy to handle, designed for sailors of all levels. For the Boat Show, the importer – Topcat Polska – has prepared a special promotional sale offer

As usual, the Boat Show featured stands with fittings and equipment. The exhibitors include both Polish producers and importers of fittings and equipment produced by renowned foreign companies. The exhibitors presented fittings, electrical equipment, sails and rigging as well as modern and innovative propulsion systems. There were numerous offers by charter firms, sailing schools, insurance companies as well as producers and distributors of sports clothing. One of these was Henri Lloyd, the world leader in production of specialist clothing for sailors, which presented its latest collection.

From motorboats, houseboats, sail yachts, jet skis and small catamarans to kayaks or canoes and SUP boards – everyone could find something for themselves. Parker Poland presented a number of boats from its fleet. At the Fair, the visitors could see Parker 800, the Pilothouse, Parker 630 Bow Rider, Parker 770 Weekend and Parker 690 DC. Meetings with famous yachters, water sports celebrities and travellers, reports from regattas, expeditions to distant places, and announcements of future exploits are already a tradition of WIND and WATER. One of the guests of this year’s WIND and WATER was Szymon Kuczyński. Last year, he successfully completed his nearly 16-month long solitary voyage around the world and won the Voyage of the year Award 2016 – the Silver Sextant, as well as the title of 2016 Sailor of the Year awarded by the magazine WIATR. In addition, the visitors had the opportunity to see Maxus 22 – the yacht on which Szymon Kuczyński fought against the elements.

One of the most popular events was the meeting with Laura Dekker – a young Dutch sailor who circumnavigated the globe single-handedly. Laura told us about the most interesting adventures related to her voyage, on which she embarked when she was just fourteen years old. To go on her dream cruise, she first had to overcome the resistance of the Dutch authorities by fighting them in a courtroom, and then deal with social criticism. Already for the second time, we hosted Tom Cunliffe, who is an iconic figure in the English-speaking sailing world – author of a number of books, publications and films, with his own column in the popular sailing magazine “Yachting Monthly”. This time, Tom Cunliffe shared some tips how to become a good skipper.

The programme of the Boat Show also included meetings with Polish sailors who have performed extraordinary feats, have gone on long sea voyages or taken part in international races all around the world. Our guests included Mateusz Kusznierewicz, Przemysław Tarnacki, Dominik Życki, Artur Skrzyszowski and Jacek Siwek There was also a meeting with the Polish National Team, at which the agenda of preparations for the 2020 Tokio Olympic Games was discussed.
As usual, dedicated kayakers and canoeists could enjoy the Saturday Canoeist Day. The programme, developed in cooperation with the magazine “Wiosło”, was once again full of interesting meetings, presentations and lectures, among which every canoeist could find something to enjoy.
